After a week of tough racing over the Rocky Mountains, the tour finished in Denver with an individual test of speed. With more than a few turns the course will provided a challenge for the riders and fantastic viewing opportunity for race fans. The athletes started at one minute intervals in the middle of Civic Center Park near the State Capitol Building, down some of the cities most iconic streets – Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue with a finish along Broadway St. Here are a few of my shots from the last Stage of the 2012 US Pro Cycling Challenge!

German Jens Voigt – one of the most popular riders in the world was one of the local crowd favorites as well. At age 41 he’s not slowing down any time soon as he won Stage 4 handily in Beaver Creek and won the King of the Mountains jersey in Stage 5.
Last years overall winner, Levi Leipheimer prepares himself before competing in the time trial.
Leipheimer concentrates at the starting gate for his time trail through downtown Denver. Levi placed 3rd overall this year.

1st Place – Christian Vande Velde (USA) of Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda
2nd Place – Tejay van Garderen (USA) of BMC Racing Team
3rd Place – Levi Leipheimer (USA) of Omega Pharma-QuickStep
